Current Status: Strategic Setup

We are marking the signing of the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) between Canada and the European Union in close cooperation with the Embassy of Canada to the Slovak Republic, Slovak Investment and Trade Development Agency (SARIO) and Representation of the European Commission in Slovakia.

 The event was officially opened by Karen Mollica, Ambassador of to the Slovak Republic.

The programme focused on practical experiences with CETA, opportunities to develop trade and investment, and ways to further strengthen economic cooperation between Slovakia and Canada.

 We would like to thank all our distinguished guests and delegations, representatives of government institutions and ministries, and speakers for their support and participation.

 Trade between Slovakia and Canada has great potential. We look forward to the next 10 years. 

 It's here! A defining milestone for Slovak-Canadian business relations!

On Thursday, 17 September 2026, we held the Inaugural General Assembly of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in the Slovak Republic.

This founding assembly marks an important moment for our Chamber and for Slovak-Canadian business relations. Members came together to shape how the Chamber operates and to set its direction for the years ahead.

We are delighted that Ambassador Karen Mollica of Canada to the Slovak Republic has been invited to become Honorary President of the Chamber, a testament to the strong support our initiative has received from the Canadian Embassy in Bratislava.

We are thrilled to announce that our Chamber has officially become a member of CanChams of Europe! This milestone represents a natural and exciting step forward in our mission to support and connect businesses. Joining this prestigious umbrella network makes perfect sense for us, as it unlocks a powerful platform for cross-border collaboration, valuable knowledge sharing, and expanded market reach. We are incredibly proud to be part of this dynamic European alliance and look forward to close, fruitful cooperation across all member chambers, fostering stronger Canadian-European business relations together.

The Chamber's founding was announced on 10 June 2026 by Her Excellency Karen Mollica, Ambassador of Canada to the Slovak Republic, at the Canada Day reception in Bratislava — in the presence of Members of Parliament, Government representatives, business leaders, and prominent figures from academia, civil society, and the media.

Founded with the endorsement of the Embassy of Canada in Bratislava and registered as a civic association under Slovak law, the Chamber will serve as the primary institutional platform connecting Canadian and Slovak businesses — facilitating trade, investment, and long-term economic partnership between the two countries.

The Chamber's Board of Directors is chaired by Eduard Maták, with Peter Dostál serving as Vice-Chairman. The founding board brings together business leaders with deep ties to both Canada and Slovakia.

Canada and Slovakia share democratic values, a commitment to open markets, and a growing network of people and companies that bridge our two economies. The Chamber is here to give that network a voice, a structure, and the institutional framework it has long deserved.

We welcome Canadian companies active in Central Europe, Slovak companies with interest in the Canadian market, and all institutions that see value in deepening this bilateral relationship.

We are currently finalizing our onboarding into the European network and setting up our initial working groups.
